My journey as a blood donor began over three decades ago, all the way back in 1994 in India. To me, donating blood was always a quiet, profound privilege. There is indescribable satisfaction in knowing that a few minutes of your time can become the very reason someone else gets to smile again. I always believed that saving a life is the greatest, most selfless gift you can give back to this world. When I moved to Canada, I knew this was a tradition of hope I had to carry with me.
Today, I am incredibly proud to continue this journey through my employer’s eHealth Saskatchewan Partners for Life team, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with colleagues to support our community's health.
Since June 2018, my relationship with donation transformed from a charitable habit into a deeply personal mission.
That summer, my world shattered when my 42-year-old brother was involved in a fatal car accident. The grief of losing him so suddenly was suffocating, leaving a void that felt impossible to fill. In the darkest days of that heartbreak, I found myself searching for a way to honor his vibrant spirit and keep his memory alive.
I realized that while I couldn’t bring my brother back, I could help prevent another family from experiencing that same devastating empty chair at the dinner table.
Every time I sit in the donor chair now, I am no longer just giving blood; I am dedicating every single drop to my brother. It is my way of keeping his love alive in the world.
Blood donors truly save lives. When you donate, you aren't just giving cells and plasma—you are giving a mother, a father, a sibling, or a friend another tomorrow. If you have been waiting for a sign to donate, let this be it. Become the reason for someone’s smile, and give the ultimate gift of life today. You never know whose world you might save.
