Right now, scientists at Canadian Blood Services — and around the world — are racing to find a treatment for COVID-19 that works.
They are exploring whether plasma from individuals who have recovered from COVID-19, called convalescent plasma, could be an effective treatment for those who are still ill with the virus, or those who will be infected in the future. There isn’t enough evidence to support this yet and that’s why we need your help.
Your gifts will support innovative research in blood transfusion and transplantation medicine potentially saving even more lives and transform patient outcomes in the months ahead — during the pandemic and beyond.
For patients like Charles, the need for blood products is constant – even during a global pandemic.
Charles has received more than 100 blood transfusions to help treat his genetic condition and throughout his life, he will require hundreds more. During these uncertain times, we are committed to keep our promise to help every patient, match every need and serve every Canadian like Charles.
