Planning for your donation
On the day of your donation, make sure you are hydrated, feeling well, and had a good night’s sleep. Remember to bring a valid ID, your donor card (if you have donated before) and any prescription medication you are currently taking.
If you are planning to bring children with you to your donation, we follow certain guidelines to ensure the well-being of your children.
Info on bringing children to our donor centres
Children in donor centres
Canadian Blood Services’ guidelines for children in donor centres are designed to ensure the well-being of donors and their children.
Children Under 10
If you bring children under 10 years of age to the blood donor centre, please plan to have a friend or family member with them during your donation. We ask that children in our clinics be supervised by a person who is at least 12 years of age. Children under 10 and the person supervising them are welcome to wait in the refreshment area or designated waiting areas throughout the clinic.
Children Age 10 and Older
Children aged 10 and older are welcome to wait in the refreshment or waiting areas without supervision.
Please ensure those joining you are comfortable with being in an environment where we are collecting blood. If you have any questions regarding the presence of children in our donor centres please contact Feedback.
