Every story needs a side kick

I give blood because I believe in heroes. I’m not a doctor. I’m not a nurse. I’m not a police officer. I’m not a firefighter. The people fighting for the lives for others', they are the heroes. I can’t do what they do. And I won’t pretend to understand what they are going through. But I can give a part of myself so they can keep being the heroes I believe them to be.

I don’t need to know someone to care about what happens to them. They’re someone’s parent, child, partner, or friend. And if my donation helps give them more time with the people they love, that means something to me.

Not everyone has to be the hero. But every one of us can choose to be there for one.
