I began giving blood at 17 at a clinic held at our local university in Saint John, NB . Working in various places meant that I was not always near a clinic, but I gave when I could. As a preschooler my son asked if I could give blood and then he and his sister could have a free cookie! I checked my card and drove to donate. Due to medical mishaps or shots for a mission trip I probably had more than 10 years that I could not donate. But I persevered and have now given 194 whole blood donations. My son in Moncton is a regular donor. And once my youngest granddaughter turned 17, she asked me to take her to become a donor. I am fortunate that at age 75 I can still give. Yesterday was number 194 for me and number 2 for Kayla. It is great to see 3 generations be blood donors. And the snacks are still good!!
