Dr. Jeannie Callum
Dr. Jeannie Callum is a distinguished leader in transfusion medicine, recognized for her extensive contributions to clinical research, education, and policy development. She has mentored numerous faculty members, fellows, graduate students, and trainees, and played key roles in influential organizations, including the AABB, ISBT, ISTH, and the International Collaboration for Transfusion Medicine Guidelines. As co-chair of the 2024 Intravenous Albumin Guideline and co-lead of both the University of Toronto QUEST Transfusion Medicine Research Program and the Canadian Transfusion Trials Group (CTTG), she has helped shape best practices in transfusion care.
Dr. Callum’s research spans blood utilization, major hemorrhage management, and knowledge translation, with over 300 peer-reviewed publications and 9,973 citations and is lead author of the Transfusion Handbook: "Bloody Easy". She has led or contributed to major clinical trials, including ABLE, PROPPR, FIIRST, TACS, FIBRES, and FiiRST-2, helping to advance evidence-based transfusion practices. Beyond her academic achievements, what truly sets her apart is her unwavering dedication to patient care and blood system improvement.
