Charlottetown donor centre
“We know our donors, and we all work together to provide the best experience possible,” says Jacob Perry, donor centre supervisor in Charlottetown, P.E.I. “All the team members have their own strengths and are encouraged to use them at work.”
Staff at the donor centre in Charlottetown are receiving the Living our values award in the team category. This award recognizes one group who best exemplifies, at a team level, the values of Canadian Blood Services. Nominees and recipients are role models for all employees, working tirelessly to deliver on the organization’s mission, vision and strategic goals.
For the Charlottetown team, which is dedicated to providing an excellent donor experience and an enjoyable place to work, respect is a guiding principle.
“We are a family here,” says Jacob. “We care about each other and value our individual differences.”

Humour and compassion are also huge parts of the culture at the Charlottetown donor centre. These qualities help employees relate to the donors, whether they are celebrating good news or going through hardship.
“We adjust our approach to help each donor have the best experience while donating — to get them to laugh and share a smile,” says Jacob.
“When you walk into our donor centre, you hear laughter,” he adds. “We have donors who say, ‘Let me know if you are hiring, because I love the environment here.’”
