Every year Canadian Blood Services honours and thanks some of the remarkable people and organizations who have made significant contributions to Canada’s Lifeline and the patients we serve.

Established in 2002, the Canadian Blood Services Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals whose landmark contributions have made both extraordinary and world class impacts in the field of transfusion and/or transplantation (including hematopoietic stem cell, cord blood, and organ and tissue) science or medicine.

Dr. Peter Nickerson

Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr. Peter Nickerson is the Dean and Vice-Provost (Health Sciences) of the Max Rady College of Medicine at the University of Manitoba. He played a central role in building a nationally coordinated transplant system through the development of programs such as the Kidney Paired Donation Program and the Highly Sensitized Patient Program.

Dr. Jeannie Callum

Lifetime Achievement Award

Dr. Jeannie Callum is a transfusion medicine specialist and hematologist at Kingston Health Sciences Center and professor in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine at Queen’s University. She has helped shape best practices in transfusion care.
