African, Caribbean, and Black Advisory Group

Canadian Blood Services is committed to diversifying its donor base, addressing anti-Black racism, and fostering a blood system that is inclusive and responsive to the needs of all people in Canada. Central to this initiative is the African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) Advisory Group. 

The ACB Advisory Group provides Canadian Blood Services with strategic guidance, advice and culturally grounded insights to help inform and support meaningful, engaged strategies to build trust, repair relationships, and promote equitable practices.

Purpose

The ACB Advisory Group operates in an advisory capacity on Canadian Blood Services’ strategies, policies and programs to engage and recruit ACB communities, ensuring they are culturally safe, culturally responsive, equitable and align with the values and lived experiences of diverse Black communities across Canada. The group is not a decision-making body; its role is to influence, advise, and inform.

Advisory Group Mandate 

  1. To co-develop a trust and relationship-building strategy that builds equitable pathways to repair and deepen relationships with ACB communities.
  2. To act as an advisory to Canadian Blood Services’ ACB recruitment strategies, activities and supportive resources by providing recommendations, perspectives, and community-rooted guidance.
