Hi Fit Body Bootcamp! I’m Charles.

Every six weeks, I rely on the generosity of complete strangers to help keep me alive.

When I was just six months old, I was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease – and since the age of 14, I’ve been receiving regular transfusions of donated red blood cells to replace my affected sickle-shaped blood cells.

I’m now 30 years old. That means to date, I’ve received close to 140 blood transfusions and have relied on more than 1,200 volunteer donors to save my life. And that’s only the beginning – throughout my life, I’ll need hundreds more transfusions to stay alive and well.

There are so many other Canadians like me who will need blood for life – and there are so many ways you can help make a lifesaving difference!
