In January, many of us are looking at how to make the most of the year ahead. As dedicated Partners for Life with Canada’s Lifeline, you have a leg up on making your year one filled with impact for others.

But did you know there’s more than one way to support patients with Canada’s Lifeline?

In 2023, we’re inviting you and your Partners for Life members to commit to supporting three different areas where patients, and Canadian Blood Services, need your help through our 3 in 2023 challenge.

Here are a few ideas, beyond blood donation, on how partners can Give 3 in 2023:

  • Inspire your members who are 17-35 years old to join the stem cell registry,
  • Help recruit potential stem cell donors by hosting a Campaign in a Box and handing out 15 stem cell registration kits, or a recruit-and-raise campaign that supports the stem cell registry with recruitment and fundraising
  • Encourage all members to register their intent to be an organ and tissue donor
  • Amplify your team’s impact with a one-time financial gift, or add a team fundraiser to your next group donation
  • Consider asking your employer if they will match your/your team’s volunteer contributions with a financial gift
  • Share team members’, or your own, personal story at blood.ca/mystory to encourage others to join Canada’s Lifeline

Speak to your regional Partners for Life contact to get started on any of these ideas or others!

How are other partners Giving 3 in 2023?

Anna MacCara is a Hockey Gives Blood player ambassador and a forward on the St. FX women’s hockey team in Nova Scotia. As a blood donor, someone who has joined the stem cell registry and a financial supporter, Anna offers a great example of how Partners for Life members can Give 3 in 2023.

Two hockey players face off

When Anna organized a Hockey Gives Blood fundraiser at one of her games last year, she knew it would make a difference for people like Gail and countless others. Gail, who’s pictured next to Anna, is connected to the St. FX hockey community — and is also the recipient of a stem cell transplant.

Money raised through fundraisers, like the one Anna organized, can help recruit blood, plasma and potential stem cell donors who help save and transform lives like Gail’s. By giving 3 in 2023, like Anna and many other Hockey Gives Blood player ambassadors, you can help patients in ways you never thought possible.
