Dr. Kahwash is a hematopathologist based in Halifax with a clinical interest in transfusion reactions and optimizing blood transfusion guidelines. He is also involved in a number of teaching and medical leadership roles related within the field of transfusion medicine.
Brief Biography
Dr. Kahwash completed his medical residency training in pathology at Ohio State University in Columbus. He relocated to the University of Louisville to complete his clinical fellowship in Transfusion Medicine and later joined Canadian Blood Services as a medical officer at the Atlantic Canada medical office.
He currently balances his Canadian Blood Services role with an appointment at Dalhousie University as the acting program director of the Transfusion Medicine Residency Training Program, a clinical staff hematopathologist position at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences, and further duties with the AABB, CSTM, ASCP, and local transfusion medicine committees.
