Philip and Little Callie

I'd always wanted to be a blood donor, but was afraid of fainting. In April of 2023 we found out the reason for my husband's weight loss; it was cancer. In May, 2023 he had surgery to remove over half of his liver, his gallbladder and the tip of his pancreas. He had to receive a lot of blood during his ten hour surgery. Then in February of 2024 our little two year old granddaughter was diagnosed with cancer. She had surgery to remove a tumour, spent many weeks at the IWK and four months at Sick Kids in Toronto. She also received blood transfusions. She just turned 4, and after a year and a half of various treatments, her last tests were clear as were my husband's. In 2024 I figured it was time for me to give it a try and roll up my sleeve. I have now made three donations and hope to make many more. We have such gratitude to the donors who helped save my husband's and little granddaughter's lives. It only takes a few minutes of your time to do something that can save lives.
