Join us TODAY for the next live townhall: Join Graham and a panel of our own scientific experts today at 1 p.m. ET to discuss what we know about vaccine safety and development, variants of concern, vaccine roll-out — and how all of this will affect our organization’s plans for the return to office. We are shaking things up by sharing pre-recorded video and audio questions from employees in addition to taking live questions throughout the event. Participate by clicking on the meeting link in your Outlook invite. Can’t join us live? A recording will be available shortly following the event on your COVID-19 employee portal.
My COVID-19 vaccination story: As efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 continue across the country, a number of our employees have come forward to share their vaccination experience and why it matters in the hopes of inspiring others to do the same. Over the next few weeks, we'll share their words in a special series. In today's installment, Andrea Benoit, a registered nurse at our National Contact Centre in Sudbury explains her decision to get vaccinated while pregnant; and Deb Steele-Kretschmer, a strategic communications specialist in Edmonton, mentions wanting to spend more time with her 91-year-old mother." Read their stories on Connect.
To participate in this important series, please reach out to us at communications@blood.ca with the subject line “MY VACCINE STORY.”
National Day of Mourning for those who have been injured or killed at the workplace: Every year on April 28, we pause to mark the National Day of Mourning, by recognizing the thousands of workers killed, injured or made ill in the workplace and renewing our collective commitment to a healthy and safe work environment. More than a year into the COVID-19 pandemic, this day takes on even greater significance. Says CEO, Dr. Graham Sher, “I am profoundly thankful for your continued commitment to safety and health. You are helping to save lives every day during a time of deep national loss.” The Canadian flag will be flown at half-mast on April 28 at many Canadian Blood Services sites. You are encouraged to pause for a moment of silence at 11 a.m. local time to honour those affected and to acknowledge the sacrifices of frontline and essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Question of the day: I was unable to attend the NOTDAW lunch and learn live last week. Is there somewhere I can access a recording of the event?
Thank you to everyone who participated in our NOTDAW events last week and who helped share the power of organ and tissue donation throughout the month!
If you couldn’t attend the Organs and Tissues for Life lunch and learn on April 21 with associate director of OTDT, Peggy John, a recording of the event is now available here: OTDT 101 (vimeo.com).
Please continue to show your support by talking to your friends and family, sharing inspiring stories of donors and recipients and using our dedicated Organs and Tissues for Life background during your Teams meetings with colleagues.
