What do you think about the daily digest?

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, information was rapidly evolving, and we had to respond quickly. To make it easy for employees to access the latest updates on the virus and our operations we created the daily digest. Although we are still very much in the thick of the pandemic, many of the new measures supporting our response to COVID-19 have already been implemented. Subsequently, information that was once evolving daily has reached a manageable pace.

We’ve thought about a few ways we could evolve the daily digest to ensure it continues to provide value to employees (as opposed to clogging up your inbox). We’ve discussed reducing the frequency, transitioning the content to include regular operations, keeping it status quo, or even cancelling it all together.

Register for multi-factor authentication before July 10: In the era of COVID-19, we’ve become accustomed to taking new measures to protect our health. We also need to adapt to evolving threats in our digital environment. To protect Canadian Blood Services devices and applications from external threats, we are upgrading multi-factor authentication (MFA). If you haven’t registered for MFA you must do so before July 10, 2020. If it’s been awhile since you originally signed on, you must sign in again before that date and ensure your information is current. Learn more about how to do so on Connect.

Question of the day: With the resumption of cord blood collection in Brampton, are we likely to resume at our other three locations soon? Also, what kind of discussions led to the resumption in Brampton?

While we do not yet have firm dates for the other three cord blood collection sites, we are hopeful that we will be able to resume cord blood collections at these sites soon. We are in communication with the leadership at each of the three locations and we are waiting for them to provide us with the green light to return. We will then work with them to determine a specific date at each location for us to be able to return to their facility and resume collections. The decision to resume in each location is dependent on local/provincial requirements as well as hospital restrictions still in place for non-essential staff and activities.

We had the same kind of discussion with Brampton that we are still having with the other hospitals. Brampton was the first site that gave us the green-light to return, and then we worked closely with them to determine a suitable date for resumption of collections.
