Perinatal Laboratory Services

Diagnostic Services: AB - NWT

Diagnostic Services AB/NWT provides screening of pregnant women for blood type and red cell antibodies under a program funded by Alberta Health and Wellness. This screening provides information to assist physicians, midwives, and nurse practitioners in ensuring the appropriate management of a pregnancy for both the mother and baby in order to prevent Hemolytic Disease of the Fetus and Newborn. Testing is provided in Edmonton for: Alberta, Northwest Territories, western Nunavut, and Lloydminster, Saskatchewan.

Information for patients needing Rh immune globulin can be found here (PDF). This information may be helpful when obtaining informed consent from patients.
