Share the LOV! Living Our Values nominations now open
Would you like to recognize a colleague who lives our values in their work every day? The Living Our Values program (LOV) is our annual peer recognition program designed to celebrate individuals and teams who exemplify our ICARE values (integrity, collaboration, adaptability, respect and excellence). The 2023 LOV nomination period is now open and closes on Friday, April 21. For more information and to nominate a colleague or team, check out the Living our Values page or read more on Connect.
The ‘good old hockey game’ turned fundraiser for Canada’s Lifeline
The best game you can name lived up to its reputation on March 11 thanks to the community of Kamloops, B.C., and Logan Stankoven, the captain of the Kamloops Blazers hockey team. Together they raised more than $41,000 for Canadian Blood Services — a record-breaking amount raised by a Hockey Gives Blood player ambassador in support of patients who rely on Canada’s Lifeline. Understanding Ramadan and supporting your Muslim colleagues
Later this week, Muslims in Canada and around the world will mark the start of Ramadan. Those who observe this holy month of fasting abstain from eating and drinking daily, from dawn until sunset. The occasion also involves prayer, acts of charity and introspection. All Canadian Blood Services employees are encouraged to learn more about Ramadan and show support for Muslim colleagues during this time. We particularly encourage people leaders to learn about how best to support and accommodate Muslim employees on their teams during the Ramadan period. Providing flexibility in working hours, or allocating more demanding tasks for the morning when those who are fasting typically have more energy, are just a few examples. Visit the DEI resources of the month section on Connect to learn how you can support your Muslim colleagues and team members during Ramadan. Ramadan Mubarak to all those who celebrate!
