Living Our Values nominations open March 20
Would you like to recognize a colleague who lives our values in their work every day? The Living Our Values program (LOV) is our annual peer recognition program designed to celebrate individuals and teams who exemplify our ICARE values (integrity, collaboration, adaptability, respect and excellence). The 2023 LOV nomination period opens on Monday, March 20, and closes on Friday, April 21. Six regional recipients — one for each region, as well as one recipient each from head office and the National Contact Centre — are selected. The National Award of Distinction is selected by the executive management team and is awarded to one individual and one team. For more information, check out the Living our Values page.
This Green Shirt Day, join the movement for life
The fifth annual Green Shirt Day is just a few short weeks away. Every year, April 7 is recognized across Canada as Green Shirt Day to spread awareness about organ and tissue donation. Inspired by Logan Boulet, who donated six of his organs after succumbing to his injuries following the tragic Humboldt Broncos bus crash, the day is also an opportunity to honour, remember, and recognize all the victims and families of that fatal and devastating event. Green Shirt Day continues Logan Boulet’s legacy by inspiring Canadians to register as organ and tissue donors and talk about the decision with their families. HR Helps: Submitting a request
The process of submitting a human resources (HR) request is quick and easy, allowing employees to review and track the status of their HR requests and receive timely responses. The service management tool (ITSM), which can be accessed by clicking the HR Helps icon under My Apps on Connect, is a one-stop shop for employees. Submitting a request this way allows the HR team to triage, prioritize and manage the requests they receive with accurate contact information and in real-time. Requests are automatically routed to the appropriate team for action and response. Visit Connect for more details.
There’s still time to share your input on our DEI journey and strategy
Throughout February 2023, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team held a series of information and engagement sessions to help bring employees up to speed on Canadian Blood Services’ DEI journey. Almost 900 employees signed up to learn more about and provide feedback on the priority areas that will shape Canadian Blood Services’ DEI strategy and action plan. DEI strategies are most effective when co-created and championed by employees across an organization, which is why your input and perspectives are so important. If you were unable to participate in one of the engagement sessions last month — or, if you did participate and wish to share additional feedback — you are encouraged to fill out this short survey. The survey will remain open until Friday, March 17. A session recording is also now available. For more information about the DEI strategy and action plan, visit Connect.
