Earlier today, we launched our joint employee experience and brand health surveys. You should have received an email addressed from our CEO, Dr. Graham Sher, inviting you to participate in this two-part survey. Your valuable feedback received through the surveys will be integral to inform how we operate moving forward, together. Save the date for next week’s Bell Let’s Talk panel discussion
When it comes to mental health, now more than ever, every action and conversation counts. The 12th annual Bell Let’s Talk awareness campaign encourages a national conversation to help reduce stigma and promote awareness and understanding of mental health. This year, we will be hosting a panel discussion on Wednesday, Jan. 26 from 12:30–1:30 p.m. ET, led by our chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer, Dr. Yasmin Razack. The session will feature employees who will share their own lived experiences with mental well-being and mental illness. The goal of the session is to help foster a more inclusive, empowering and psychologically safe experience in the workplace, where stigma is reduced, and vulnerability is encouraged. Explore the new COVID-19 case management dashboard
A new dashboard has been added to blood.ca, providing the latest information available regarding potential COVID-19 exposures at our collection sites and events. This dashboard provides easy access to the latest information for employees, volunteers and donors. The information is updated regularly and each event will remain posted for 14 days. If donors have questions about COVID-19 cases at our collection events, please ask them to visit blood.ca to view the dashboard.
Reminder to on-site staff: Review the employee wellness checklist online
New posters at the entrances to our sites focus on wellness and remind employees and volunteers to stay home if they are sick or are required to isolate. Before coming to work, employees (including fee for service) and volunteers are required to review the online employee wellness checklist applicable to their province, to determine if they meet the wellness criteria. The checklist can be found on the employee portal and is accessible from any device. As has always been the case, employees and volunteers are expected to follow their applicable, local, provincial public health guidelines.
Question of the day: Given the high transmissibility of the Omicron variant, where are we with return to office (RTO)?
Due to the circulation of the Omicron variant, our plan to bring a small number of employees back to the office has been paused. We will continue to monitor cases across the country and, as always, our decisions will be informed by case counts, vaccination rates and government or public health guidance and requirements. Our priority is to offer more employees the opportunity to return to the office when it is safe to do so.
As we look forward to phase two of the RTO project, we are developing a future vision for our workplace. This will be informed by the work being done by our planning team in terms of building a hybrid work environment. This work will help us answer questions on how we want to operate as individuals, teams and as an organization. Our hope is to adopt a flexible work environment where the focus is on a safe and welcoming transition process. Canadian Blood Services is supportive of flexible work arrangements where it is operationally feasible and cost effective.
