About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular Part-Time Nurse Consultant to join our dynamic Donor Centre team in Calgary-Eau Claire, Alberta.  In this role, you will act as a coach and resource to Donor Centre staff performing donor eligibility screening and clinic situations. You will manage the consultation process and contribute to a continuous quality improvement environment on Donor Centre’s.  Key responsibilities include:

  • Provides guidance to clinic staff performing donor screening as per the consultation process.
  • Promotes and supports knowledge transfer and progressive learning and development.
  • Assists with and/or resolves donor screening situations when consulted by clinic staff.
  • Performs activities as assigned by the Clinic Supervisor/Charge Nurse.
  • Acts as a role model in the delivery of customer service excellence.
Required skills:
  • Must be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) and currently registered, or eligible for registration, with CARNA. 
  • A minimum of three years of related experience is considered an asset. 
  • Previous experience in a regulated blood collection environment.
  • Experience in a continuous quality improvement environment would be an asset. 
  • Experience in preceptor and/or coaching others to enhance job performance is also considered an asset.  
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, the ability to communicate with and provide excellent customer service to a diverse donor base. 
  • The ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships with other clinic services staff, management, and volunteers. 
  • Having a working knowledge of personal computers is desirable.  
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

What is the working language?
