Each year during National Blood Donor Week (June 13–19, 2021) and World Blood Donor Day (June 14), we proudly recognize and celebrate the essential role volunteer donors play in strengthening Canada’s Lifeline. This year marks the 13th anniversary since the parliamentary legislation introduced by Senator Terry Mercer was enacted.
National Blood Donor Week is taking place as we continue to live through the COVID-19 pandemic, one of the greatest health crises of our time. Despite the challenges, disruptions and uncertainty caused by the pandemic, blood donors have shown their unwavering support for patients in need with their lifesaving contributions. Thank you.
Donors are a vital link in Canada’s Lifeline. Whether you have donated blood, plasma, stem cells, cord blood or financial gifts, we appreciate all donors for keeping Canada’s Lifeline strong. There are many reasons to donate and just as many to say thank you. Let’s unite during National Blood Donor Week and celebrate all donors in Canada. There are infinite ways to say thank you, and we can’t say it enough.
A promotional toolkit has been developed to help bring awareness to the importance of lifesaving blood donations across Canada.
On behalf of patients in your community and across Canada, our heartfelt thanks to you for your sincere generosity and commitment to helping save lives. Blood donors are essential to Canada’s Lifeline.
You can inspire others to support patients through blood donation by sharing your story or reason for joining Canada’s Lifeline at blood.ca/reasons or on social media. Don’t forget to tag us @CanadasLifeline so we can like and share your posts and use the hashtags #CanadasLifeline #NBDW2021.
Join us this week, this month and throughout the year to remind new and returning donors that their ongoing support for Canada’s Lifeline goes toward ensuring patients in Canada receive lifesaving support where and when they need it.
